The story

On July 28, 2026, Géraldine Fasnacht and Jacob Weintraub completed the first wingsuit flight from the Grand Combin massif, launching from the Aiguille du Croissant (4,259 m), opening a major new line on this iconic mountain and adding a new chapter to the history of wingsuit flying in the Alps.

Located in the heart of the Valais Alps, in the Val de Bagnes region, the Grand Combin is one of Switzerland’s highest peaks. Its complex terrain, glaciated environment and the demanding conditions of high-altitude mountaineering make both the ascent and the flight a great feat.

Following meticulous preparation, the two pilots launched from the summit of the Aiguille du Croissant (4,259 m), establishing a completely new aerial line where precision, commitment and technical mastery were essential.

For Géraldine Fasnacht, this achievement is part of more than two decades dedicated to exploring some of the world’s most spectacular mountains.

Throughout every expedition, Géraldine Fasnacht pursues the same ambition: exploring new terrain, opening previously unseen aerial lines, and demonstrating that the greatest achievements are built on meticulous preparation, an intimate knowledge of the mountains and profound respect for nature.

“Every new line tells a story. Grand Combin is a mountain that has lived within me for many years. I see it every day from my home in Verbier, and it has fueled my imagination for a long time.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of writing several important chapters of my journey on this mountain: in 2005, completing a first speedflying descent of the Grand Combin’s north face; a few years later, making two snowboard descents of the steep Combin de Valsorey face, as well as a descent of the north face from the summit of the Mur de la Côte.

Today, this first wingsuit flight continues that story. More than a performance, it represents the fulfillment of a long-held dream and another chapter in the deep connection I have with this mountain.

This achievement grew from the meeting and shared vision of two people passionate about mountain flight. It is the result of genuine teamwork, many years of experience, patience and deep humility in the face of the mountains. Every project reminds us that meaningful commitment can only exist when it is built upon respect, clear judgment and uncompromising preparation.”
